Police arrest woman for stealing goods worth N10m in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old woman, Hadiza Ibrahim, for allegedly stealing items worth N10,102,000 at the Green House shopping mall in Katsina.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, made available to newsmen on Friday.

According to the statement, the police received a report from the Chief Security Officer of Green House on March 4, 2026, about a suspected shoplifter operating in the mall.

The statement read, “Following the receipt of a report from the Chief Security Officer, Green House, Katsina, on March 4th, 2026, the Katsina State Police Command succeeded in arresting one Hadiza Ibrahim, f, age 27, a suspected notorious thief that specialises in shoplifting in marketing environments within the Katsina metropolis, for allegedly stealing goods worth ₦10,102,000.00

The suspect was captured on CCTV footage at Green House Katsina, where she was seen dishonestly stealing various items from a shop. Analysing the CCTV footage, the suspect was closely monitored, leading to her arrest at the scene.’’

According to the police, a search of her residence led to the recovery of items valued at over “N10 million, including: 74 sets of shoes, 37 pairs of veils, 67 sets of sportswear, 54 sets of children wear, 123 pairs of cap315 sets of socks, 45 pairs of women’s wrappers, 9 handbags, 3 cartons of spaghetti, 24 bottles of perfumes, 5 cartons of soap, one bag contained various styles of fashion jewellery necklaces, one sack containing various cooking seasonings and spices among other exhibits” were successfully recovered from the suspect’s possession.

The recovered items were identified by their owners, and additional victims were traced during the investigation. Ibrahim reportedly confessed to the offences and has been charged in court for prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police in Katsina commended operatives for their work and urged shop owners to remain vigilant. He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
