Police arrest man over murder in Adamawa
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Abubakar Musa in connection with the alleged murder of Nathaniel Yusuf, 30, of Jambutu Ward, Yola North Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the arrest followed a report lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare, by Grace Yusuf, a sister of the deceased.
According to the statement, she alleged that her brother had been attacked by the suspect.
“Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives responded to the distress call, visited the scene, rescued the victim and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, for urgent medical attention. The suspect was also arrested at the scene,” the statement partly read.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand and head, after allegedly being attacked with a stick by the suspect. Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, he was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor while receiving treatment,” the statement added.
The statement disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, Kabiru Hassan, had directed the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yola, to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the suspect in accordance with the law.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the medical facility for an autopsy, while the investigation is ongoing,” it added.
The command reassured members of the public of its commitment to ensuring justice and urged residents to remain law-abiding and continue to support the police with credible information that would aid ongoing investigations.
