Police arraign 60-year-old for raping 24-year-old woman in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 60-year-old man, identified as Ajayi Femi, before a court for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman after spiking her drink.
Police stated that the incident occurred on August 22, 2025, and was initially reported by the victim’s sister at the Meiran Police Station before being transferred to the Gender Unit of the Command for further investigation.
Findings revealed that the suspect drugged the survivor, rendering her unconscious, before having unlawful sexual intercourse with her without consent. The Command disclosed that Femi confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Following investigation and medical examination, he was charged in court, where the presiding magistrate ordered his remand in prison custody pending the next adjourned date.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for survivors of sexual offences and urged Lagos residents to report such cases promptly at Family Support Units across divisions and area commands.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development in a statement yesterday, noting that the case was receiving the attention of the judiciary.
