Osimhen to undergo knee surgery, miss Amed clash

Galatasaray have confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has suffered a left knee injury and will undergo surgery, ruling him out of tomorrow’s match against Amed S.F.

The Turkish champions in a post on its X handle on Friday, disclosed that Osimhen sustained the injury during their recent UEFA Champions League fixture against VfB Stuttgart.

According to the club, the forward suffered a strain in his left knee, while subsequent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations detected a loose body in the joint, making medical intervention necessary.

Galatasaray confirmed that Osimhen would undergo arthroscopic knee surgery tomorrow at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital.

The procedure will be performed by the club’s doctor, Yener İnce.

The injury means the Nigerian international will miss the encounter against Amed S.F. as he begins treatment and recovery.

“In the UEFA Champions League match we played against VfB Stuttgart, our player Victor Osimhen sustained a strain in his left knee, and MRI examinations detected a loose body. An arthroscopic knee surgery will be performed tomorrow at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by our club doctor Yener İnce.

“For this reason, our player has been removed from the squad for tomorrow’s match against Amed S. F,” the post read

The club is expected to provide further information on his condition and anticipated return to action following the surgical procedure.

Osimhen’s absence will be a setback for Galatasaray as they continue their domestic and European campaigns, with the club monitoring his recovery ahead of his return to competitive football.
