Okpebholo hails turnout at APC presidential primaries in Edo  


Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has  commended the large turnout of members of the APC at  the party’s Presidential primaries held in the state on Saturday.

The governor gave the commendation at his ward, in  Udomi, in Esan Central Local Government Area of the state.

Okpebholo said  the massive turnout  showed  that the people are ready to cast their votes for President Bola Tinubu come 2027.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the President Tinubu is the sole candidate of the APC for the 2027 presidential election.

The governor participated in the primaries  alongside other party members in the Option A4 method of primary adopted by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC for the presidential election nationwide.

Speaking to journalists,  he said that some people did  not want to hear that the state would  give Tinubu 2.5 million votes, adding that Edo people will deliver because it is  possible.

“Today’s APC presidential primary election  at Ward 2,  Udomi is very peaceful, and you can see how happy our people are as they came out in their large numbers to vote for Mr. President.

They have voted for the president overwhelmingly, this is how it is all over Edo state. This is a pointer to how the presidential election will be in Edo . People are smiling coming from their houses to vote for the president.

“We are ready for the 2027 general elections in Edo. We are ready to deliver Edo to President Tinubu as 2.5 million votes are sure for him.

“Some people don’t want to hear it and are saying it’s not possible but let me tell them that it’s possible and it is settled in Edo,” he said.

In his remarks, the returning officer for the presidential primary, Mr Favour Ehimegbe, said that ward two  is the  governor’s  ward.

Ehimegbe noted that the party members had lined up to be counted, and they had shown their party cards for verification and ensured that all those counted were truly members of the party.

“This primary election is conducted based on the party’s guidelines and regulations and President Tinubu secured a total of 360 votes to emerge the winner of the primary in Ward 2 in Esan Central,” he said.
