Ogun Top Political Group, Yayi Progressives Movement, Intensifies Grassroots Mobilisation

A leading political group in Ogun State, the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections, pledging support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The commitment was reiterated by the Convener of the movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, alongside other apex leaders following the successful inauguration of the group at the Ake Palace in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Speaking at a press conference recently held at the Iwe Iroyin Press Centre, the State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, said the group remained focused on massive grassroots mobilisation, particularly in support of the APC governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan.

Kaka noted that the movement would continue to strengthen its presence across the state to ensure electoral success for APC candidates in future elections.

Also speaking, one of the apex leaders of the movement and a former two-term member of the House of Representatives who represented Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye, described the Yayi Progressives Movement as a formidable political force that has continued to make significant contributions to Ogun State’s political landscape.

According to him, the movement is committed to mobilising support for the APC and consolidating the party’s strength at the grassroots level.

In his reactions, the Convener of the movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, disclosed that funds announced during the inauguration ceremony would be deployed for campaign logistics and grassroots mobilisation of its principal, Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan Yayi.

He stated further that the initiative forms part of broader efforts aimed at securing victories for APC candidates in both the presidential and governorship elections.

Akintunde commended the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating what he described as an enabling environment for political participation and mobilisation, adding that Senator Adeola’s emergence as the party’s consensus candidate reflects the APC’s preparedness for the polls.

Describing the donations made during the inauguration as a collective contribution by supporters, he said the gesture demonstrated the group’s commitment to strengthening the party’s electoral prospects in Ogun State.

He expressed confidence that Ogun State would deliver strong support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, while maintaining that Senator Adeola possesses the experience and track record required to govern the state effectively.

Akintunde also dismissed opposition efforts in the state, insisting they would not affect the APC’s chances in future elections.
