NAOSS begs Gov Abiodun to fulfill N2.5m promise to MAPOLY’s late best-graduating student
The newly elected leadership of the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), has appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun, to fulfill his promise of N2.5m to the best graduating student of the Civil Engineering Department of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, for the 2022/2023 session, Comrade Oriwayi Samuel, who died recently.
This was stated in the acceptance address by the Association’s new President, Comrade Oluwafemi Ajayi, after the election of new executive and Senate leadership during its National Convention held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, on Saturday.
He commended Governor Abiodun for his commitment towards the development of education in the state.
He said, “ NAOSS commends His Excellency PRINCE Governor Dapo Abiodun CON , for his commitment towards the development of education in Ogun State. As the Southern governor’s forum chairman, he has distinguished himself in all ramifications especially in the aspect of students welfare.
“We are passionately appealing to our students friendly father and governor to remember his promise to Late Comrade Oriwayi Samuel, aka Samoris.
“He was the best graduating student 2022/2023, from the civil engineering department, we beg the governor to remitt the 2.5 million naira promise to his family.”
Ajayi applauded the senators of NAOSS and the convention planning committee for upholding the constitution without bias, and commended operatives of the state police command and the DSS for ensuring a very peaceful environment without any rancor.
The new elected executive committee members are Ajayi Oluwafemi Sunday, President; Olanose James, Vice President 1; Lawal Gbolahan, Vice President 2; Kamil Iseoluwa, Secretary; Folarin Israel, Auditor; Jamiu Mubaraq, Director of Welfare; Adeosun Joshua, Public Relations Officer 1; and Oderinde Tosin, Public Relations Officer 2.
Others are Lawal Taofeek, Social Director; Abdulazeez Bashir, AGS 2; Mustapha Damilola, Treasurer; and Sobowale Bright, Public Relations Officer 3.
The Senate leadership comprises Olabode Opeyemi, Senate President; Tijani Abdulazeez, Deputy Senate President; Sokoya Abdulkareem, Clerk; and Sodipe Emmanuel, Chief Whip.
The Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee (CPC), Comrade Akinwunmi Akinshola, appreciated all the 60 senators who were drawn from different campuses, urging them to cast their votes without fear or bias.
Akinshola, however, appealed to all aspirants to embrace peace and sportsmanship, stressing that the election was not a do-or-die affair and only one person could occupy a particular office at a time.
