Mob set suspected phone snatcher ablaze in Jos

JOS – A suspected phone thief was set ablaze by an angry mob in Jos, Plateau State, on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in his death

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the incident occurred at Apata community in Jos North Local Government Area.

According to Mathew Paul, an eyewitness, the young suspect reportedly snatched a victim’s phone at gunpoint.

Paul recounted: “The thief, a young man, collected someone’s phone this afternoon, then fired a gun into the air to frighten people. But people noticed he was struggling with his gun.

“The mob quickly gathered, chased and caught him, and set him ablaze.

By the time security operatives arrived at the scene, the suspect was already dead.”

Efforts to get a reaction from the Police Public Relations Officer, Alabo Alfred, were unsuccessful as his phone was switched off at the time of filing this report.
