LAWMA clears illegal dumpsite, warns residents

The Lagos Waste Management Authority enforcement team cleared an illegal dumpsite in Ketu.
The operation, which took place on Saturday, specifically targeted an unauthorised waste disposal area behind 68, Oduntan Street.
The Commissioner, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Lagos State, Tokunbo Wahab, said the action was initiated to address the environmental hazards the dumpsite was causing in the neighbourhood.
He disclosed this on Saturday morning via an X post using his handle (#tokunbo_wahab).
He explained that as part of the operation, all accumulated waste was cleared, and the agency stated it would deploy surveillance measures to prevent a recurrence.
The commissioner said, “Our LAWMA enforcement team is currently conducting clearance operations at an illegal dump site located behind 68, Oduntan Street, Ketu.
“This morning’s action targets an unauthorised waste disposal area that has been causing environmental hazards in the neighbourhood.
