Lagos taskforce arrests louts for harassing road users
The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested suspected touts at two separate locations in the state following incidents of harassment and intimidation of road users.
The state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on Thursday in a post on his official X account.
He said the incidents involved individuals suspected to be “Omotaku” touts who confronted and harassed road users.
According to him, the first incident occurred at Marwa Bus Stop in Lekki, where a truck driver whose vehicle had broken down was confronted and threatened by individuals who demanded his phone and money

The second incident took place at Palmgrove along Ikorodu Road, where suspected touts attempted to harass road users.
“Similarly, another incident occurred at Palmgrove along Ikorodu Road, where suspected touts attempted to harass road users,” Wahab added.
He said taskforce operatives swiftly intervened in both cases and apprehended the suspects, adding that they would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“In both instances, operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce swiftly intervened and apprehended the suspects. They will be processed in accordance with the law,” he stated.
He assured residents that the state government remained committed to keeping roads safe and eliminating all forms of harassment and intimidation across Lagos.
“We remain committed to keeping our roads safe, protecting motorists, and eliminating all forms of harassment and intimidation across Lagos. Enforcement operations will continue across identified hotspots to maintain order and security,” he said.
