Lagos PDP deputy chair resigns

The Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Tai Benedict, has resigned from the party.
Benedit, in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Friday, disclosed that he would officially be joining the African Democratic Party on Saturday (today).
He said, “I have resigned with immediate effect. I will formally join ADC on Saturday, 23rd August. Some leaders of the party will be in Lagos tomorrow, and some PDP key members.
“There is no choice but to leave the PDP. The party is holding its conventions in two different places—this is the first time in history. Instead of tensions in the party calming down, they are getting worse.”
Benedict expressed sadness over the ongoing crisis within the PDP, adding that there was no value in the party any longer.
He stated, “Anyone still in the PDP is just there for nothing. It is sad to say this about my dear party. It is unfortunate. The PDP has now become an annexe of the All Progressives Congress.”
His resignation letter was addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward J1 Ibonwon, Eredo Epe Local Government Area of the state, Fausat Adenuga
It reads, “This is to notify you of my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Ward J1 Epe Local Government, Lagos State.
“I am grateful to the party for allowing me to serve in various capacities, including my present position as the Deputy State Chairman, which I am resigning from today, 22-08-2025, with immediate effect.”
