La Liga: Barcelona renew Frenkie de Jong’s deal until 2029

FC Barcelona has officially confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Frenkie de Jong on a new long-term contract, with the formal signing ceremony scheduled for tomorrow.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s X post on Tuesday, the new deal will keep the Dutch midfielder at the club until June 2029, extending his stay and solidifying his role as a key figure in Hansi Flick’s squad.

“Barcelona confirm new deal agreed for Frenkie de Jong as a formal act will take place tomorrow. New contract valid until June 2029,” Romano posted.

De Jong, 28, joined Barcelona in 2019 from Ajax and has since become a central part of the team’s midfield, known for his composure, ball control, and tactical intelligence.

The renewal comes amid persistent transfer interest from top European clubs in recent years, and signals the club’s firm commitment to building around its core players.

This extension follows a series of similar moves by the club to retain key players and stabilize the squad amid ongoing efforts to rebuild both on and off the pitch.

De Jong has made over 200 appearances for Barcelona, winning the Copa del Rey in 2021, and remains a crucial component of the team’s domestic and European ambitions
