Kogi tasks INEC chair, COAS on integrity

The Kogi State Government has charged the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, and the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Joash Amupitan, to be good ambassadors of the state.

The Commissioner for Finance, Mr Asiwaju Asiru-Idris, gave the charge in a statement signed on Sunday in Lokoja and obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria.

Asiru-Idris described the appointments of the duo to the exalted offices by President Bola Tinubu as a plus and a pride to the government and people of Kogi.

He said the appointments were received by the government and people of Kogi with great joy and appreciation across the state.

The commissioner urged the duo to be focused and committed toward the execution of the assignments before them by avoiding any form of distraction from any quarter.

This is because your appointments are a clear affirmation of President Tinubu’s confidence in the capabilities of Kogi indigenes and their commitment to an all-inclusive government that recognises talent from every corner of the nation.

“To us, these appointments are a testament of Tinubu’s visionary leadership, detribalised disposition, and his dedication to harnessing the potentials of all Nigerians for national development.

“I am particularly grateful to Mr President for the opportunity provided to our kinsmen to contribute their expertise, knowledge, and experience to your Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

The commissioner said there was  no doubt the appointed individuals would serve the nation with utmost dedication, integrity, and diligence in justification of the trust reposed in them.
