Islamic prayer held for slain Lagos NURTW official

An Islamic prayer was held on Thursday for the late Lagos State Organising Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as Toba Ijaya, at his residence in Fadeyi, Lagos.
Dozens of men and women gathered for the prayer session as Islamic clerics led prayers in honour of the late union official.
Our correspondent captured Ajiboye’s gravesite, with his tombstone adorned with floral arrangements, including flowers arranged to spell the word “ICON.”
Unidentified gunmen shot Ajiboye along the Ikorodu Road/Fadeyi corridor on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
He was rushed to St. Nicholas Hospital on Lagos Island, where he later died from his injuries.
He was buried at his Fadeyi residence on Tuesday, July 21, drawing a large crowd of mourners, including colleagues and sympathisers, who gathered to pay their final respects.
The Lagos State Police Command said it had launched an active manhunt for those responsible for the attack, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing assailants.
