IPCR urges unity, harmonious relationship as Lent, Ramadan begins
The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution has called on Nigerians to cherish harmonious relationships as Christians and Muslims observe Lent and Ramadan simultaneously.
IPCR, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, and signed by the Director-General, Joseph Ochogwu, the institute described the rare coincidence of the two holy seasons as a unique opportunity to promote love, unity and tolerance across religious divides.
IPCR noted that the overlap of Lent and Ramadan presents a moment for deeper interfaith dialogue, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence in the country.
“The coincidence of Ramadan and Lent is a reminder that despite our differences, we share a common humanity and national identity. By working together, we can build a more united, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria,” the statement said.
The institute also urged Nigerians to reject extremist interpretations of religion and instead emphasise moral teachings that unite communities.
