The Ajalorun of Ijebu-Ife, Oba Afolorunsho Oguntayo JP, has showered heartfelt prayers on all indigenes of the town, both at home and in the diaspora, urging them to unite and contribute more actively to the development of their community.

The monarch made the call on Saturday during the grand-finale of the three-day Ijebu-Ife Day 2025 celebration, a colourful event that attracted sons and daughters of the ancient town from across the country and beyond.

In his address, Oba Oguntayo emphasized that the growth and prosperity of Ijebu-Ife depend on the collective efforts of its people; while praying for peace, prosperity, and divine favour upon all indigenes.

“When things go well for our people, they will always remember home and invest in it. We must all work together for the progress of our land,” - the monarch said.

The three-day celebration, which commenced on Thursday, featured a health walk, medical outreach at the Ajalorun Palace, indoor games, and football matches. The festivities continued with the Ikokore Night, beauty pageant, and award presentations, and climaxed on Saturday with a grand-finale filled with colour, music, and funfair.

The event also showcased top musical performances by renowned artistes. Fuji maestro King Saheed Osupa thrilled guests during the Ikokore Night, while Apala Disco legend Alhaji Musiliu Aruna Ishola electrified the grand-finale with his performance.

Expressing appreciation, Oba Oguntayo thanked all invited guests, chiefs, baales, committee members, and various community groups under Ijebu-Ife for their support and participation.

“This celebration is not just a social event, it is a time for unity, prayer, and reflection. Ijebu-Ife has a proud history, and we must continue to build upon the legacy we inherited. Our land is destined for greatness, and together we shall make it so,” the royal father said.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of Ijebu-East Local Government, Hon. Oluwadare Kehinde, reaffirmed the council’s commitment to the development of Ijebu-Ife and called for sustained partnership among all stakeholders.

“The government alone cannot do it all. We need collective effort, patience, and perseverance to achieve meaningful development. Every contribution no matter how small goes a long way in supporting our Kabiyesi and advancing our community,” Kehinde stated.

The 2025 Ijebu-Ife Day has been described by many attendees as one of the most vibrant editions in recent years, celebrating the town’s rich cultural heritage and the unity of its people.
