Gunmen kill two in Plateau attack

Gunmen have attacked Daron village in Gyel District, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, leaving two people dead.
It was learnt that one person was also injured during the attack, which occurred around 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
A youth leader in the community and President of the Berom Youths Moulders Association, Solomon Dalyop, confirmed the killings to The in Jos on Wednesday.
Dalyop said, “In another turn of events at about 7:50 pm on 21st October, 2025, bandits suspected to be armed Fulani attacked and shot dead two people, among whom is Mr Pam Choji, and one was injured at Daron village of Gyel District in Jos South LGA.”
He added that the attack followed an early warning of planned raids on villages in Gyel and neighbouring settlements. “The bandits, suspected to be armed Fulani, just opened fire on the community. The Plateau State Police Command also confirmed the incident. Spokesman Alabo Alfred stated, “Yes, we are aware of the incident. We have just finished our monthly press briefing, and we are moving to the community right now.”
The latest attack highlights the ongoing security challenges in Plateau State, where several communities have recently experienced violent attacks.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang reiterated that his government, alongside security agencies, is determined to end these nefarious activities and insisted that it is time for perpetrators to renounce violence and embrace peace.
recalls that on October 9 2025, two people were killed by gunmen along the Barkin Ladi-Dorowa Babuje road in Plateau State.
It was told that the victims were returning home after attending a security meeting called by the Sector Four Commander when they were ambushed and killed.
