Gateway Airport, a game-changer for economic prosperity –Ogun NIPR

The Ogun State Chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has hailed the inspiring vision and strategic investment of Governor Dapo Abiodun in birthing the Gateway International Airport, Ilishan-Remo, describing the legacy project as a game-changer for economic prosperity in the state.

In a statement signed by Mrs Oluwaseun Boye and Mr Kunle Olayeni, the Chapter Chairman and Secretary respectively, the Ogun NIPR also congratulated Governor Abiodun on the historic and successful launch of the maiden commercial flight at the newly constructed state-owned airport on Tuesday, 7th October, 2025.

According to the professional body, the inaugural flight operation was a milestone in the state's development journey and it underscored the present administration's commitment to improving socio-economic infrastructure in the state.

The Ogun NIPR commended the Abiodun-led administration's proactive approach to engaging with relevant stakeholders, including the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), to ensure the airport meets the required standards for safe and efficient operations.

The statement read, "The Ogun State Chapter, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is delighted to extend heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, his government and the good people of Ogun State on the flag-off of commercial flight operations at the state-owned Gateway International Airport.

"The inaugural commercial flight, which took off from the state-owned airport in Ilishan-Remo and successfully touched down in Abuja on Tuesday, 7th October, 2025 marks a significant step towards accelerating the economic potential, creating job opportunities and increasing revenue generation in Ogun State.

"We are thrilled that the commencement of commercial flights is a major achievement in the state's development journey and it underscored the present administration's commitment to improving connectivity, facilitating trade and promoting tourism in our dear state.

"Governor Abiodun's tireless efforts and unwavering dedication to develop our state's infrastructure and enhance its economic prospects are duly acknowledged. With this airport project, Ogun State has indeed been placed on the world map of aviation.
