Foundation provides school materials to Oyo students
The Segun Olukitibi Foundation has distributed school bags and writing materials to students in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The foundation embarked on the humanitarian initiative on Friday to bridge the gap between children and the educational opportunities they deserve, according to the founder and project manager, Jesuferanmi Olukitibi.
Olukitibi, in a statement made available to our correspondent, said the project brought together teachers, parents and students because the foundation believed that creating equal access to education required a collective effort.
She said, “Our expectation is to create greater awareness, empower the different stakeholders involved in a child’s education, and lay the foundation for sustainable impact that can reach more children and communities.”
No fewer than 100 students benefited from the empowerment component of the project, while 50 teachers participated in a capacity-building session.
The foundation also conducted a market awareness campaign, during which more than 300 parents were sensitised to the importance of education and the need to keep every child in school.
