FG assures on stable, transparent electricity trading

Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the recently appointed Chairman of the Nigerian Bulk energy Trading (NBET) Company, has promised Nigerians policies that will encourage stability, openness, and creativity in the nation's energy trading.

He also said that strong focus on sustainable and renewable energy solutions would be given priority attention by the company.

Argungu, who is the National Organising Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made this pledge at a reception in his honour by the management of the company in Abuja.

Addressing the directors and management team of the company led by the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Johnson Akinnawo, the new Chairman acknowledged NBET’s vital role in the electricity sector and pledged to work closely with the Board and management to improve electricity trading and supply in Nigeria. 

He also underscored the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in order to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, while ensuring sustainable progress and efficiency in the sector.

Speaking during the familiarisation visit around the critical units of the company, the Acting Managing Director, Johnson Akinnawo, introduced the Chairman to the board and provided a detailed overview of NBET’s operations, strategic objectives, and ongoing initiatives.

He emphasised NBET’s critical role in maintaining a stable and efficient electricity trading framework in Nigeria while highlighting the Board’s efforts to enhance the country’s power sector.

APC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, Dr. Suleiman Wambai ; APC Director of Organizing, Tasi’u Muhammed, APC Director of Election Management; Dr. Niyi Akinsiju , Special Assistant to the National Chairman; Dr. Ugboaja Stanley , Chief of Staff to the Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Staff of APC Directorate of Organizing accompanied the new chairman to the reception.
