Ex-AGN president Rollas apologises to Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko
Former Actors Guild of Nigeria President, Emeka Rollas, has apologised to actress Regina Daniels, her mother, Rita Daniels, Senator Ned Nwoko and several Nollywood colleagues over comments he made during the actress’s marital crisis last year.
Rollas, in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, said he had reflected on the manner in which he handled the controversy and regretted the timing and platform he chose to air his views.
The former AGN president had, in November 2025, publicly weighed in on the marital crisis between Regina and Nwoko, saying the actress “needs help” and calling out several senior actors whom he said had witnessed incidents involving her.
He also criticised Rita Daniels over her involvement in the AGN leadership race and addressed issues surrounding Nwoko, who was then the guild’s Board of Patrons chairman.
However, in his latest statement, Rollas said he now regretted making the comments while the Daniels family was going through a difficult period.
Sometimes, with the passage of time, we look back at our actions and realise that being right about an issue does not necessarily mean we handled it the right way,” he said.
Rollas said a recent chance encounter with Rita Daniels, during which some people attempted to reconcile them, prompted him to reflect further on the controversy.
“A recent coincidental encounter with Mrs Rita Daniels, where some people tried to make peace between us, gave me another opportunity to reflect,” he said.
He subsequently apologised to Rita Daniels and her family, Nwoko and his family, Regina, the AGN Board of Trustees and colleagues including Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Agility and Nazareth Jesse.
“I am sorry,” Rollas said.
He stressed that he was not making the apology on the condition that it would be accepted, adding that the decision to forgive him belonged to those he had offended.
“Whether or not anyone chooses to accept my apology is entirely their decision. I am making it because, after looking back, I am not proud of how I handled that moment,” he said.
Rollas added that his views on some of the issues he raised had not necessarily changed, but said he accepted responsibility for his conduct and timing.
“I may still hold my convictions about some of the issues I raised then, but I take responsibility for my actions and my timing,” he said.
He said he had chosen to move forward with “peace, reconciliation, dignity and respect.”
“Leadership is not only about having the courage to speak. It is also about having the humility to acknowledge when we could have spoken differently, waited longer, or chosen a better path,” he added.
