Ekiti monarch seeks teaching hospital’s annex upgrade
Former Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi, has appealed to the management of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti to upgrade the facility’s annex in the community to provide 24-hour medical services to the people.
Meanwhile, Oba Alabi hailed FETHI Chief Medical Director, Prof. Kolawole Ogundipe, and his team for keeping the annex working in the face of the present economic measures in the country.
The monarch, according to a statement by his Media Adviser, Chief Olubunmi Ajibade, made available on Thursday, made the call in his palace at Ilawe Ekiti while playing host to FETHI management team led by the CMD, Prof. Ogundipe.
Oba Alabi, who said some modern medical facilities were lying fallow in the annex, said, “The hospital annex should make use of the state of the art equipment including laboratory facilities in the facility to meet the medical needs of patients from Ilawe Ekiti and other neighbouring communities.
The Alawe hailed indigenes of the community including Lagos lawyer, Femi Falana SAN and the Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, for their contributions to the growth of the hospital annex.”
Ogundipe, who thanked the monarch and Ilawe-Ekiti community for their financial and material donations to the hospital annex, promised to ensure that the health facility met the people’s demands.
The CMD promised to always update the community concerning the progress of the teaching hospital annex
Ogundipe, a former CMD of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti and Afe Babalola University Multi-System Hospital, Ado Ekiti assumed office as FETHI CMD in March following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
The CMD, had on resumption of duty, pledged to strengthen and reposition the tertiary health facility as a centre of excellence in healthcare delivery, training, and research.
He had noted that FETHI occupied a strategic position in the country’s healthcare system as he called for the cooperation of the hospital’s workforce to achieve the facility’s mission as both a healthcare provider and a teaching institution.
