Board warns job applicants against fake recruitment update
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has warned applicants to disregard a fake recruitment update claiming that a status-check portal for the next phase of its recruitment will open on Monday, August 3.
The board issued the warning in a post on its X handle on Sunday.
In the post, CDCFIB shared a copy of the purported “Official Announcement” and prominently marked it with a red “FAKE” watermark.
The forged notice claimed that candidates who participated in the recent medical screening would be able to check their recruitment status through the official recruitment portal from August 3.
It also informed applicants that shortlisted candidates would proceed to the next stages of the exercise, including fitness assessment and oral examination
The fake notice carried an electronic signature attributed to the Secretary of the Board, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), and was dated August 1, 2026.
However, CDCFIB disowned the document and urged applicants to rely only on information published through its verified communication channels.
The warning comes amid the ongoing 2025 recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Correctional Service.
The recruitment process, which has attracted thousands of applicants nationwide, has progressed through physical and medical screening stages.
The medical screening exercise was conducted on June 22, 2026, and there is no official update on the next phase.
