Bisi Akande blessed my re-election bid, says Osun Senator

The lawmaker representing Osun Central in the Senate, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, on Monday said his re-election bid has received the support of the ex-national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Bisi Akande.

Photographs of Akande and Fadeyi, taken during a meeting, where the federal lawmaker presented his expression of interest and the APC nomination form to the ex Osun State Governor went viral on the social media on Sunday.

The reports that Fadeyi, one of the five federal lawmakers belonging to the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, hails from Ila Orangun, which is also the hometown of Akande.

Fadeyi, who currently serves as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment, had
made photographs taken during the meeting with Akande, where he presented the ex Osun State governor with the forms, available to The PUNCH.

The senator, one of the five federal lawmakers belonging to the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, hails from Ila Orangun, which is also the hometown of the ex governor Akande.

Providing more insight into the meeting he had with Akande during a chat with The PUNCH on Monday, Fadeyi said the elder statesman was briefed about his ambition to return to the Senate in the year 2027 general elections.

“I went to brief him about my consultation across the 10 local governments (in the Central Senatorial District) regarding my ambition for second term. I informed him about huge support and acceptance of my candidacy by the elders, party leaders, Senatorial leaders, party chairmen, Youth Leaders and Women Leaders

Also endorsement came from Federal constituencies. Baba (Akande) was happy about this and gave me his blessings and full support.

“Baba (Akande)  also acknowledged the good works have been doing in the last three years which he said was highly commendable. He stressed that l should keep working for the interest of our great party. He prayed for me and wish me success ahead of our elections,” Fadeyi said.

The reports that Fadeyi, who was elected into Senate 2023 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, has since defected into APC alongside four other federal lawmakers from the state.
