APC group seeks arrest of Tinubu billboard vandals in Ondo
An All Progressives Congress support group has called on security agencies to arrest those behind the destruction of billboards bearing the image of President Bola Tinubu in parts of Ondo State, warning that political expression must not degenerate into vandalism.
According to a statement on Saturday, the Director-General of the Ondo Mandate Group, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, who spoke with journalists at a briefing on Friday, described the destruction of the billboards in parts of the Akure metropolis as an attack on democratic culture.
“Political expression must never descend into vandalism. Destroying the President’s billboards is an attack on democratic culture and the will of millions who stand with him. We urge all lovers of peace to resist such tendencies and report those responsible to law enforcement,” he said.
Asagunla vowed that no act of intimidation would deter the group from its grassroots mobilisation agenda, reaffirming its commitment to delivering an overwhelming victory for Tinubu in Ondo State in the 2027 general election.
He said the group had been working across all 203 wards in the state, mobilising women, youth and the elderly to surpass the votes recorded for Tinubu in the 2023 election.
“We have left no ward untouched. Our mobilisation machinery is reaching every hamlet, every market and every constituency. The message is clear: Ondo State will speak with one loud voice for President Tinubu in 2027,” he stated.
Speaking on the occasion of the Easter celebration, Asagunla urged Christians to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice, humility and selflessness exemplified by Jesus Christ.
Easter transcends the festive pomp and pageantry. It is a season that calls on all believers to reflect deeply on the life of Christ, His unwavering commitment to service, His spirit of forgiveness, and His ultimate sacrifice for humanity,” he said
