Aiyedatiwa: Ondo Police, Amotekun assure of hitch-free inauguration

Ahead of the inauguration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Ondo State Security Network, Amotekun, has deployed 700 personnel to ensure a smooth and incident-free event.

Similarly, the Ondo State Police Commissioner, Wilfred Afolabi, has reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the ceremony.

“All necessary security measures are in place to guarantee a smooth and safe event. We have profiled all expected guests and have details of their accommodations,” Afolabi stated.

He added that police personnel would escort dignitaries from the airport to their hotels and the inauguration venue to ensure their security.

Afolabi urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives, assuring that the police are fully prepared to ensure a peaceful exercise.

Speaking on Amotekun’s preparedness, Commander Chief Adetunji Adeleye confirmed that 700 personnel had been mobilized across the state to support security efforts.

“We have assessed potential security threats and delineated operational redlines. Our officers are strategically positioned to ensure a peaceful atmosphere throughout the period,” Adeleye said.

He also noted that security strategies had been put in place to ensure a hitch-free ceremony at the Akure Sports Complex on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Adeleye thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for lifting the curfew previously imposed on Owo, describing it as a step toward restoring normalcy while maintaining security in the state.

He, however, warned criminals to stay away from the state, stressing that security operatives were on high alert across all 18 local government areas.

“There is no hiding place for criminals. Our operatives are battle-ready to counter any security threat,” he warned.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities for swift intervention by security agencies.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Wilfred Afolabi has ordered the deployment of security personnel in and around the inauguration venue to ensure the safety of all attendees and the smooth running of events.

In a statement signed by the Police Command’s spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, key security guidelines were outlined:

VIP escorts will not be allowed into the venue with rifles but may remain in designated areas around the stadium perimeter.

Commuters are advised to take alternative routes to ease movement and reduce congestion.

Vehicle owners are strongly advised to park in safer locations to avoid damage, congestion, or obstruction.

Odunlami emphasized that all security agencies would be on the ground to enforce compliance and urged residents to align with these guidelines for a secure and orderly event.
