Admission not for sale, JAMB warns applicants

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned applicants against paying individuals or online platforms claiming they can influence, fast-track or guarantee admission into tertiary institutions.

The board urged candidates to follow approved admission procedures and verify their admission status through official JAMB channels to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.

JAMB issued the warning in a Monday notice, stressing that admission seekers were not required to pay third parties for the approval or processing of their admission.

“Admission is not for sale! Don’t pay anyone to secure your admission,” the board stated

It cautioned candidates against individuals and online platforms demanding money in exchange for promises to influence admission decisions.

Beware of individuals or online platforms promising to influence, fast-track or guarantee your admission in exchange for money,” the notice read.

The board also advised candidates to protect their personal information and avoid sharing sensitive details with unauthorised persons.

Follow the approved admission process, verify your status through official JAMB channels and never share your sensitive details with unauthorised persons,” it added.

The warning was issued as part of the board’s efforts to protect candidates from admission-related scams.
