70 year old man stabs Police Inspector to death for enticing wife

A 70-year-old man, identified as Sabo Mohammed, has allegedly stabbed a police prosecutor to death in Minna, the Niger State Capital.

Mohammed had on 3rd February 2025, attacked the Police Inspector, identified as Nasir Musa, attached to the Manigi Magistrate Court, with a sharp knife.

The suspect accused Inspector Musa of enticing his junior wife.

Following the incident, Musa was rushed to the Federal Medical Center in Bida, where he was pronounced dead by the medical doctor on duty.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Ogiri Emmanuel, informed the court that the case details are in the file and will be sent to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

When the charge was read, Mohammed pleaded guilty and expressed regret for taking the law into his own hands.

Presiding Magistrate Hajiya Hadiza Hamza Imam condemned Mohammed’s actions, noting that the court lacks jurisdiction to try cases of culpable homicide.

The Magistrate has been remanded in the Minna Correctional Center pending further proceedings.

The matter has been adjourned to the 15th of April, 2025 for further mention.
