2027: APC chieftain empowers 50 Ogun women, rallies support for Yayi

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Titi Fagbote, popularly known as Ayoka, has empowered 50 women in Yewa North Local Government Area of the state with cash to support their livelihoods and mobilise grassroots support for the party’s 2027 governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

The beneficiaries comprised hairdressers, fashion designers and elderly women.

Speaking at the empowerment programme held at Omidokun Hall, Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area, Fagbote said the initiative was also aimed at inaugurating members and supporters of the Ayoka Women for Yayi group and mobilising them to work for Adeola’s success at the polls.

According to a statement she issued on Tuesday, Fagbote said her decision to empower the women was motivated by two considerations: demonstrating what she had learnt as a follower of Adeola and ensuring that the responsibility of empowering citizens was not left entirely to him.

She described Adeola as a politician whose developmental interventions had made a significant impact across Yewa North, saying his activities had earned him the recognition of residents.

“Even before becoming Governor, it is evident that Yayi has done so much, brought a lot of development and touched so many lives in Yewa North Local Government Area of this state. Our people see it, they feel it, and they know that Yayi is exceptional,” she said.

Fagbote urged members of Ayoka Women for Yayi to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election by highlighting Adeola’s achievements as a senator and communicating his plans for Ogun State.

She also stressed the importance of empowering women, describing them as hardworking and industrious members of the community whose economic advancement directly impacts their families.

What I know is that Yewa women are hardworking, industrious and supportive of their husbands. It means, therefore, that when we empower our women folks, we are actually building our future, as what we do automatically impacts the children and men folks as well,” she said.

Representing Adeola’s wife, Temitope Adeola, the Convener of the West-to-State APC Women’s Wing and President of the Dynamic Diamond Sisters, Olori Adebisi Olaotan, condemned what she described as persistent attacks on the senator’s state of origin, describing them as desperate attempts by political opponents to malign his character.

She affirmed that Adeola is an indigene of Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, dismissing rumours that he hails from Ekiti State.

“Over time, we have had situations whereby they keep attacking the personality of Yayi. And we keep looking at them as if nothing has happened. They’ve called him several names in the past. They told us on several occasions that he’s from Ekiti. But tell them to tell us the exact area he’s from in Ekiti. Nobody has done that,” she said.

Olaotan said the opposition’s anxiety was driven by Adeola’s track record of community interventions and infrastructure delivery across Ogun West and the state.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Rafiu Fausat, expressed appreciation for the empowerment programme, describing it as a valuable intervention that would strengthen their businesses. She said she planned to use the financial support to increase the capital base of her business, which she said would enable her to improve her operations and livelihood.

She also urged the people of Ogun State to work together and support Adeola in the 2027 election. “My message to all the people of Ogun State is that we should work together and, during the coming election, support our senator, our incoming governor, Olamilekan Solomon Yayi, so that he can become the governor of Ogun State in 2027,” she said.
