We’ll Not Hesitate To Meet Your Demands – OGSG Tells Workers
The Ogun State Government has assured its work force that any benefit due to them in the course of discharging their duties, as approved by the Federal Government will not suffer any delay in its implementation.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave the assurance today, while addressing members of the Non-academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, who embarked on a peaceful protest on their welfare and service year elongation, at the Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Arigbabu said the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration is a worker-friendly government, affirming that their agitations are legitimate, but cautioned them not to allow the protest be hijacked by miscreant.
“I want to let you know that the Governor is working in the interest of the workers and will not hesitate to continue. Your demands are legitimate and we will give you what is duly yours, once we have an approval from the Federal Government. Our Governor will not allow Ogun to be the last State to implement anything meant for the workers”, he said.
Earlier in her submission, the leader of the team, who doubles as the Assistant General Secretary of the Union, Comrade Bidemi Alafiatayo said the protest was a general action of the Union in all the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Comrade Alafiatayo said the elongation of service years and improved Grade Levels, approved for teachers in the country, as pronounced by President Muhammadu Buhari should also be meted to non-teaching staff, saying “what is good for the goose should also be extended to the gander”.
In attendance at the protest ground was the Ogun State Head of Service, Alhaja Selimot Ottun and the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services, Alhaji Olanrewaju Saka.
