Population Media Center unveils Jọ̀Lọ̀Kọ̀Tọ̀ -–hits airwave July 8
Population Media Center has unveiled a new radio serial drama called Jọ̀Lọ̀Kọ̀Tọ̀ (Jigi Ayé— reflection of life) in Ibadan. The drama targets youths of 14-19 years old.
The new radio serial drama is a Yoruba Language iniative which will be broadcast on multiple radio stations in Oyo and Ogun states.
Jọ̀Lọ̀Kọ̀Tọ̀ is designed to draw people into different stories of rape, gender based violence, families friends and enemies struggling to meet financial obligations.
THE ISSUES MAGAZINE gathered that the radio serial drama will span for 15 months with about 120 fresh episodes and 120 repeated episodes.
Jọ̀Lọ̀Kọ̀Tọ̀ which is being handled by Population Media Center Nigeria, a local organisation specializes in entertainment-education via radio and television.
The radio serial drama has hit airwave on July 8th this year.
In his opening speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma from University of Africa said Nigeria has the liberty of tuning into any radio station of their choice because of the number of radio stations the country has which he put at 315.
He said, “Jọ̀Lọ̀Kọ̀Tọ̀ covers all struggles and emotions affecting the populace.
The Resident representative of Population Media Center, Mr Ephraim Okon while welcoming guests at jogor centre where the new radio serial drama and its logo were unveiled said Jọ̀Lọ̀Kọ̀Tọ̀ is the first Yoruba serial drama which PMC is undertaking.
He said PMC has produced a radio serial drama in the northern part of Nigeria.
“from June 2006-Feb-20107, PMC has produced and broadcast Gugar (goge) “Tell It To Me Straight”.
“Goge is a 70-episode radio serial drama addressing reprodictive health, family planning and obsteric fistula in the northern Nigeria”.
In his goodwill message, the representative of director of the Federal ministry of health said the radio serial drama will address the issues of rape, unwanted pregnancies, abortion, depression, unprotected sex, HIV/AIDS, suicide, gender based violence and among others.
In Oyo State, fresh episodes of the radio serial drama is expected to be broadcast on Ajilete FM 92.1 on Mondays at 6:45pm and on Wednesdays at 9:15am.
Amuludun FM 99.1 on Wednesdays at 12:15pm and on Thursdays at 12:15pm.
Gravity FM 88.1FM Òkè ogún on Mondays at 12:15pm and Wednesdays 12:15pm. Lagelu 96:3FM on Wednesdays at 7:15pm and on Thursdays at at 7:45pm. Oluyole 98:5FM on Mondays at 6:15pm and on Tuesdays at 9:45am.
Other radio stations are Parrot 101.1FM on Mondays at 6:15pm and Tuesdays at 5:45pm. Petals 102.3FM on Mondays at 5:45pm and on Tuesdays on 5:45pm. Premier 93:5FM on Mondays at 1:15 and on Tuesdays at 1:15pm. Splash 105.5FM on Wednesdays at 8:15pm and on Wednesdays at 12:45pm. Fresh 105:9FM on Thursdays at 1:15pm and on Tuesdays at 1:15pm.
In Ogun State, fresh episodes of Jọ̀Lọ̀Kọ̀Tọ̀ is also expected to be broadcast on Family 88.5FM on Mondays at 7:45am and on Wednesdays at 7:45am. Gateway 90:5Fm on Mondays 4:15 and on Wednesdays at 10:30pm. Paramount 94.5FM on Wednesdays at 3:45pm and on Wednesdays at 11:15am. Smash 88:1FM on Mondays at 4:15pm and on Tuesdays at 4:15pm.
Other radio stations include Sweet 107.1FM on Mondays at 11:45am and on Wednesdays at 11:45am. Rock City 101.9FM on Mondays 4:15pm and on Tuesdays at4:15pm.
Repeated episodes are to be broadcast in Oyo State on Ajilete FM 92.1 on Thursdays at 6:45pm and saturdays at 9:45 PM. Amuludun 99.1 FM at Fridays at 12:15pm and on Saturdays at 11:45am. Gravity 88.1FM on Thursdays at 12:15pm and on Fridays at 12:15pm, among others.
In Ogun State, repeated episodes will be aired on Family FM 88.5 FM at 7:45am and on Sundays at 7:15.Gateway FM 90.5 on Thursdays at 1:45pm and on Saturdays at 10:45am, and among other radio stations.
