Ondo Guber: Aiyedatiwa Has Lessened Our Job, Says Campaign Group

The Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC) has said that a long list of achievements of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in only six months in office is enough for the group to campaign with, ahead of the November 16 governorship election.

The governor’s mainstream campaign body issued the statement in Akure on Thursday by its Convener, Dr. Oladipupo Okeyomi, apparently in response to opposition Peoples Democratic Party’s series of articles to lampoon the governor’s readiness for election.

In the riposte issued through the LACO-FSIC spokesman, Mr. Kayode Fasua, Okeyomi, popularly known as Carry Go, stated that Aiyedatiwa is not a noise maker but a goal-getter.

“I laughed when I read the series of articles by opposition PDP saying Aiyedatiwa has nothing to offer, as if they are alien to events in Ondo State.

“For their information, Aiyedatiwa himself has lessened our job as a campaign organisation through the long list of his achievements in just six months and he keeps on lengthening the list,” Okeyomi averred.

He cited the fact that Governor Aiyedatiwa, upon assumption of office last December following the death of his boss, the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, cleared all backlogs of unpaid salaries and has up till date, not owed any public worker or pensioner.

He said this was aside from the governor’s benevolence of paying monthly palliative allowance to all public workers to cushion the effect of the removal of petroleum subsidy by the federal government.

“Still to his strides as a leader with the milk of human kindness flowing through him, Governor Aiyedatiwa not only released free bus shuttles to school children and public workers, he also set aside over N2 billion as soft loans for petty traders, peasant farmers and young entrepreneurs, as a way of fending for those in the non-formal sector,” the LACO-FSIC boss further appraised.

According to him, the governor has mobilised virtually all contractors covering roads and other public works back to site, a gesture that cuts across the 18 local government areas of the state.

Okeyomi urged the main opposition party in the state to come up with their programmes “rather than dissipate energies on running down the great achievements of Mr. Governor, for which the good people of Ondo State are grateful”.

He said the LACO-FSIC which visited all the local government areas in the build-up to the last primary election in the All Progressives Congress (APC), was set to campaign round all communities in the state, to secure victory for Aiyedatiwa.
