Oluomo emerges Speaker Ogun assembly 9th legislature

Mr Olakunle Oluomo (APC–Ifo1), the immediate past deputy speaker of Ogun assembly was on Monday elected unopposed as the Speaker of the Assembly’s 9th legislature.

Mr Olakunle Sobukola (APC -Ikenne), had earlier during the inauguration of the 9th assembly at the assembly complex nominated Oluomo as the Speaker, seconded by Mr Adegoke Adeyanju (ADC – Yewa North 1).

In his acceptance speech, Oluomo , who appreciated God for the new position, promised to promote unity among the legislature, executive and the judiciary.

He assured that he would work together with his colleague lawmakers to ensure the growth and progress of the state.

The new speaker of the assembly promised to cooperate with Gov. Dapo Abiodun in order to bring more dividend of democracy to the grassroot.

He added that the 9th legislature would not do anything that would be detrimental to the progress of the state.

He stated that the 9th assembly in the state would initiate and pass bills that would enhanced the socio economic development of the state.

Mr Oludare Kadiri (APC – Ijebu North 1) was also nominated and elected unopposed as the Deputy Speaker of the assembly.

The speaker, thereafter sworn in other members of the 9th assembly.

Oluomo called for a short recess, saying that the assembly would reconvene and announce names of other principal officers.

Dignitaries at the inauguration included former Speakers, Muyiwa Oladipo, Titi Oseni-Gomez and Suraj Adekunbi , former Senator, Iyabo Anisulowo, political party chieftains and traditional rulers.
