Ogun PDP: We Didn’t Conduct Any Unification Gathering – Bayo Dayo

The Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party chairman Engr. Adebayo Dayo has denied the unification meeting organised by the factional group of the party on Tuesday. He said, “It is an unrestrained carousel gathering”.

Adebayo disclosed this with our correspondent in Abeokuta on Thursday, saying, the gathering was conducted by some meddlesome interlopers who claimed to be members of the State chapter.

“The attention of the leadership of the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to an unrestrained carousel tagged, ‘Ogun PDP Unification Meeting’ which was organised by some meddlesome interlopers who claimed to be members of the Ogun State PDP.

We wish to categorically state that no one else has the power to convey “unification meeting” except the Engr. Adebayo Dayo-led Executive Committee”, he stated.

Adding that the July 9, 2019 decision of the apex court in favour of the Dayo-led Exco – which is the second in five months – has permanently resolved the Ogun State PDP leadership tussle, saying Engr. Adebayo Dayo-led State Executive Committee (Exco) is the only leadership of the party in the state.

He further said, “On this note, we wish to announce again, appeal to Abuja politicians and their local collaborators to stop fanning the embers of disunity in the Ogun State PDP. Any leader caught with such an appellation should not be seen to be aiding and abetting illegalities and desperate elements” Adebayo said.

He emphasized that as democrats who believes in internal democracy, steps have been taken in reaching out to aggrieved members of the party, talking to founding fathers of the party and receiving positive responses from them. As a law-abiding body, the Ogun State PDP will not hesitate to take legal action(s) against those violating the express verdicts of the apex court with respect to the State PDP leadership”, he asserted.

He stated clealy that the era of political and judicial impunity and rascality which emboldened most of these characters is long gone; adding that if they are interested in returning to the party, they should come in through the right channel.

“These are characters who unabashedly abandoned the party few days to the 2019 Governorship and House of Assembly election, publicly executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and worked against the PDP and its candidates. They are yet to apologise and atone for their anti-party activities”.

“I, Engr. Adebayo Dayo, remain the substantive Ogun State PDP Chairman. Anything to the contrary is nothing but political gymnastics and deceit”, he concluded
