Ogun Govt Mobilises Local Govt Councils On Clean Environments
The Ogun State government has expressed its determination to mobilize, collaborate and synergize with all the twenty local government areas in the state for clean and safe environment.
Special adviser to the Governor on Environment, Mr Ola Oresanya stated this when he paid a working visit to the Chairman of Caretaker Committee, Engineer Olugbenga Olugbile in Ijebu-Ode Local Government recently.
Oresanyan in his assertion noted that the local government councils must synergize with the state government on the sensitization of their inhabitants especially market leaders and traders on the need to keep their environment and drainage channels clean.
He also counsel the traders on the need to employ sizeable number of sweepers to clean the inner streets in their localities to complement the state government efforts as well as support the Residential Refuse Collection Programme of the state government, aimed at eliminating illegal dumping of refuse across the state.
Oresanya further encourage local government councils to enact their own Environmental Bye-Laws to promote public hygiene which is an integral component of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Maintained that Recycling Plants will be sited in some local government councils to provide employment opportunities for the women and the youths while enjoining Chairmen of all the Councils to take ownership of the new waste management reforms within their localities for a clean and safe environment.
In the same vain, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committees in Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Engineer Olugbenga Olugbile thanked the state government for her new environmental sanitation initiative, pledging to key into all the programs which are aimed at making Ogun state clean.
