Lagos housewife stabbed to death over water dispute with neighbour
A resident of Ajegunle area of Lagos, Mrs Barakat Adio has been stabbed to death by one of her neighbours during a disagreement over water.
The deceased woman had reportedly gone to a public tap to fetch water when she reportedly had a disagreement with one of her neighbours, identified as Cynthia Aigbondon
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident to Tribune Online and added that the suspect has been arrested.
The police spokesperson said that the husband of the deceased woman, Lukmon Adio reported the incident at Ajegunle Police Station.
According to Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police, the incident happened on Sunday night.
The husband reported that his late wife, had a minor misunderstanding with their neighbour Aigbondon while fetching water at a public borehole close to their house.
A police source said that the two women had a disagreement at the public water before Cynthia quickly went inside for a kitchen knife with which she stabbed the deceased to death
SP Hundeyin, while speaking on the incident said; “After the incident, she was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where the doctor on duty confirmed her dead on arrival”.
“The suspect was immediately arrested and the scene of the crime was visited, photographs were taken and the exhibit knife was recovered at the station.
“Meanwhile, the corpse has been deposited at the Mainland Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation, while investigation continues,” he added.
