  • The gates are not the cause of traffic, the volume of cars passing through Lekki phase 1 especially during this yuletide period is the main reason for traffic congestion.
The gates were errected to provide security for the residents after the aftermath of the endsars. Lekki phase 1 was seriously attacked and many lost so much.
Lekki phase 1 is full of homeless and hungry people just walking around to break into homes.
Lekki phase 1, is also full of uber and bolt drivers who leave inside their vehicles and use the surroundings to defecate, bath and also dump their waste. They are also security risk.
The police and also government agencies are overwhelmed with this issues as they have tried to assist with these problems in the past, hence the residents arranged to provide security for themselves.
Of course the gates are opened fully all day till 8pm with security men to drive away the homeless and uber drivers, the 8pm was extended to 10 pm when the state government
demanded for it just for the yuletide period.
It is a fact that some residents who turned their homes into hotels and commercial activities in a strictly residential zones are not happy because it disturbs their businesses.
The question is who gave the approval?
The gates have been removed ,carted away and now exposing the residents to high security risks.
We pray that nothing will happen while also appeal to the government to see our reasons for installing gates.
