LADI ODULAJA COMMISERATES WITH LATE PROFESSOR ADEBAYO ADEDEJI, CFR, AN ECONOMIST AND INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SERVANT
Ijebu and the entire nation have lost one of their brightest stars who made us proud because of his achievements in the world economic history, particularly being the Head of the Economic Commission for Africa, this was the statement being credited to Captain Ladi Odulaja, the Ogun State gubernatorial candidate under the Action Democratic Party.
In the Ijebu history of today, the late Professor Adebayo Adedeji remains a giant with bright prospects in its history. Nothing seems to create the intense popularity and fame of this icon other than his conquest of audacity on African continent.
Odulaja eludicated in his statement saying, “with the impressive reputation that the Late Professor Adebayo Adedeji had, the then Government of General Gowon invited the Late Professor Adebayo Adedeji to the Cabinet and made him the Federal Commissioner in charge of Economic Development.
The impression was an economic genius who made all of us, Ijebus very proud, because of his scholastic achievements in the international community.
Professor Adebayo Adedeji later on returned to Addis Ababa, where he continued to work in the Economic Commission for Africa as the Head and soon became an international figure in the economic development of Africa and was Under-Secretary General in the United Nations. His reputation loomed very large and all of us Ijebus were proud of him.
The vacuum created by his death would undoubtedly be difficult to fill particularly in his family, church of God and in the community at large.
Ijebu and entire nation will miss him, may his gentle soul rest in perfect peace”.
