IOLG Boss, Olugbile Visits Markets, Urges Traders For Regular Pay

The Chairman Transition Committee, Ijebu Ode Local Government, Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile has paid a familiarisation visit to markets in Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State.

The visit was meant to interact with the market men and women, and also acquaint the Chairman with challenges being faced in those markets.

Among places visited were the: Oba Adetona Market, Oke Aje, Ita Ale Market, Obanta (Akintonde) Market, Oyingbo, Olabisi Onabanjo Int’l. Market, Ita Osu, Abbatoir @ Yemule Road, Degun Market, and Ayesan Market.

The Chairman was accompanied on the visit by the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Lagun Anibi; Secretary to Local Government, Dr. Amos Oluwo; Supervisor for Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, Comrade Niyi Quadri; Director of Information, Education and Sports, Mr. Tope Oyekan; and Information Officer, Ms. Morenike Ogunoiki.

Also on the entourage were the Iyalaje of Ijebuland, Alhaja Fausat Akorede Alatishe; Iyaloja of Oke Aje Market, Chief (Mrs.) Wuraola Kuforiji, and other Market leaders across the city.

The Team was warmly received at the places visited, as fruitful discussions were held towards having a mutual working relationship between the council and the various markets.

The chairman, Engr Olugbile assured the traders of the council’s support on some of their pressing requests, ranging from repair of faulty borehole employment of security guards, power supply, access road, and refuse collection.

While urging them to regularly pay to the council, approved rates, taxes and levies, stop displaying of wares on the roads, and to also maintain a healthy and hygiene market environment.

He also appealed to them to continue to support the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, which he described as a people-friendly one, that is not meant to inflict any hardship on the marketers.
