Ilese Queen, Damilola Educates Youths Over Raping, Sexual Abuse
The 2018 crowned Miss Ilese, a young dynamic Queen Imole Ayo Damilola has urged Nigerian youths to be focused and dedicated in their dealings. She described rape as a pathetic and worrisome act in Nigeria of today.
Queen Damilola made the call on Thursday at Ilese Comprehensive High School, Ilese-Ijebu area of Ogun State with the tag ‘Kick Out Rape And Sexual Abuse’, as medical practitioner, Mrs. Mosudi, the representative of Ilese Divisional Police Headquarters, ASP Gbadegesin Jimoh, Mrs. Obadina and other experts graced the occasion, being supported by Ilese Development Council, Hon. Adebowale Ojuri, with some well meaning members of the IDC.
The Issues Magazine recalls series of raping matters in Nigeria of today especially the erstwhile leader of COZA church presiding Pastor Fatoyinbo among other raping incidents rampant in Nigeria of today.
Damilola in her goodwill message affirmed that rape is a serious issue that cannot be overlooked, endemic in Nigeria, saying many women and children suffer from sexual abuse and rape, while the perpetrators often go scot-free.
She added, “I have decided to fix a day awareness program aiming, to educate the younger generations on how to avoid the challenges, legal implications and how it can be managed which we are all enjoying today”.
Speaking at the gathering, a medical practitioner, Mrs Mosudi laid emphasis on raping which she claimed as a type of forced sexual intercourse that inflicts pain, thus violating the sexual right of the victim.
Adesanya Adebisi, a legal luminiary maintained that sexual abuse is all over the world but its prevalent rate in developing country like Nigeria is alarming
Adesaya said, “Sexual abuse is a species of harassment, which is wide in nature and unwelcoming, an inappropriate promise of reward in exchange for sexual favour”.
“We cannot overlook the indecent way our young girl dress nowadays, it is strongly advisable to stay away from any act that may send us to prison”, Adesanya added.
