One of the new age-groups in Ijebuland, Egbe Bobadega Okunrin Akile Ijebu (Iwajowa Ni Itesiwaju) has suspended the Secretary of the group, Oluwatobi Ibraheem Obabi and three other members for offences ranging from age falsisfication, anti-egbe activities and non-compliance with the code of conduct of the age-group.

In a press release jointly signed by the group Cordinator, Mr Olatunbosun Oreagba, and the Image-maker of the Disciplinary Committee, Osibowale Stephen Seun respectively and made available to journalists on Thursday, pointed out that the erring members have been suspended with immediate effect.

According to the statement, the suspended Secretary was alleged not to have fall within the age-group (1983, 84, 85) as required by tradition, and approval by the paramount ruler and Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

The statement revealed that the former Secretary submitted conflicting documents, which led to the investigation of his particulars by a committee of the group.

The group disclosed further that during findings, Mr Obabi’s certificate read that he was born in 1985 in a document submitted in Primary school, while the Secondary reported that he was born in 1986. As a result of the disparity, Obabi was suspended from the age-group.

But rather than being remorseful, he was alleged to have floated a new age-group, and further wrote to the bank claiming that the head of the group has been suspended, thereby asking the bank not to transact any business with the leadership of the group any longer.

The statement went further that the other members namely Jamiu Rufai Magbadun, Kazeem Yekini otherwise known as fire and Alhaji Wasiu Jimoh Shebe (former Treasurer) who were also suspended alongside the former Secretary, were alleged to be involved in anti-Egbe activities.

The age-group however concluded that the letter notifying the entire sons and daughters of Ijebuland about the suspension of the errings members has also been sent to the Police Area Command, Igbeba as well as the Bankers of the age-group.
