– Says The Festival Has Become A Rally-Point For Africans.
The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has assured the people of Ogun State to honour the late musical legends in the State at the coming World Drums Festival.
Amosun made the assurance at the recent media interactive session held at Mitros Hall in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital on Tuesday.
Going by the records, the Ogun State annual drums festival started three years ago by the outgoing Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led administration, as its 2019 edition will take place between 25th and 27th of April, 2019.
The Ogun State deputy Governor, Mrs Yetunde Onanuga, chairman planning committee of the event affirmed that the Festival has become a rally-point for Africans within and in the diaspora, to explore and propagate our culture and heritage.
“This edition has not only been expanded, in the area of participation attendance, wide coverage but spectacular in delivery”
Senator Amosun in his keynote address shed more light on the significance of the event, said the festival has been taken beyond ministry and has become the state’s annual event.
“What we have settled with is to revive our culture, then we have an overnight demand that the festival shouldn’t be limited to Nigeria nor to the Africans but extended to the entire global community, Amosun stated.
Adding that this year’s edition will be bigger and better as planned to unveil and lunch of our ‘adire’ logo, with the late Ransum Kuti’s edifice in socket to reward our past legends in the music industry.
