Alleged abduction: Court remands driver pending police investigation
An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered that a driver, Dele Oba, who allegedly abducted a teenager be remanded in prison custody, pending outcome of police investigation.
The Magistrate, Ibijoke Olawoyin ordered that Oba be remanded in Oke-kura Prison, Ilorin, adjourned the case until June 19 for mention.
The police charged Oba with two counts of criminal conspiracy and abduction.
Earlier, the Persecution Counsel, Insp. Al-Hassan Jubril, told the court that the defendant allegedly conspired with his daughter, Kafayat and lured the teenager from Ilorin to Lagos to be used as a domestic staff.
Jubril alleged that the parents of the teenager only got to know the whereabouts of their daughter, when she called to tell them that she was in Lagos, working as a domestic staff.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 96 and 273 of Penal Code.
He prayed the court not to grant bail to the defendant because the matter was still being investigated by the police.
