Adesina Ogunyemi Becomes Ajiroba Akarigbo
The Akarigbo and Paramount ruler of Remoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Babatunde Ajayi on Thursday installed Prince Adesina Ogunyemi Tijani as Ajiroba Akarigbo, Sagamu.
The epoch making and colourful event held at Akarigbo Palace, Sagamu attracted various distinguished personalities, chiefs of the palace along side family and friends of the celebrant.
The new Ajiroba of Akarigbo was said to have merited this prestigious title because of his notable contributions to nation building, particularly his avowed commitment to supporting the development of Remoland.
Oba Babatunde Ajayi during the Installation ceremony affirmed that it is in line with the rich culture, custom and tradition of the Yorubas to periodically acknowledge and recognise citizens with chieftaincy titles in appreciation of their contributions and services to the community development.
The royal father said, “today is another great and joyous day to me and to us in Remoland, we have observed with pleasure and great pride, your industry, patriotism and devotion to duty, honesty, high principles and probity, service to humanity and your other sterling qualities.
“It is in view of the foregoing, that I am so happy to honour you and your inseparable companion with these well deserved traditional titles as Ajiroba Akarigbo and Yeye Ajiroba Akarigbo respectively.
“I appreciate you for your unrelenting support to the palace, you’re reaping what you have laboured for today and I hope you will cherish this honour and be more committed and devoted to supporting the continuous socio-economic development of Remoland and Ogun State as a whole”.
Speaking briefly with The Issues Magazine and The Issues Youtube TV Show, Dr. Olayinka Oladunni, the Olu of Oke Ariko in Sagamu described the new Ajiroba as a son of the soil who deserves the best from the Akarigbo palace.
Olooke as he’s popularly called said, “the new Ajiroba demonstrates the long time relationship with Akarigbo and many of us, Prince Adesina Ogunyemi really deserves the title without being immodest.
“Ajiroba is a befitting title and well deserved, his wife also deserves the best from the palace, myself and the new Ajiroba have been together for many years.
“I know him and his wife to be wonderful family who have shown great commitment to advancing the socio-economic development of Remoland. I congratulate the couple on the well deserved honour and elevation and I pray that the Almighty God will continually guide them aright”.
Speaking more with our correspondent, the celebrant who could not hide his joy appreciated everyone for their presence praying the Almighty God to further preserve Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akarigbo of Remoland.
He said, “when my family brought me here it was Akarigbo that accepted me, the royal father exposed me to the world; which I am grateful for what he has done in my entire life, I pray may olodumare continue to be with our royal father as I wish him long life and more prosperous reign”.
The installation of Prince Ogunyemi confirms the age long tradition of Remoland in showing appreciation to their deserving sons and daughters to serve as impetus to do more while such glamorous occasion serve as motivation and wake up call for those coming behind to redouble their efforts and also contribute their quota to the development of their various communities.
