Pope Francis Declares Mother Teresa A Saint!

In a ceremony at the Vatican, the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has declared Mother Teresa a Saint. Her canonisation marks the end of a process which included verifying two miracles attributed to her in 1997 after her death.

Mother Teresa is remembered for her work with the poor in the Indian city of Kolkata and is considered by many to be an important religious figure.

Pope Francis said today at the ceremony, “After due deliberation and frequent prayer for divine assistance, and having sought the counsel of many of our brother bishops, we declare and define Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be a saint and we enrol her among the saints, decreeing that she is to be venerated as such by the whole Church.”
