Ogun LG Polls: Oyekan Rejoices With Gazal, Ogunleye

Comrade ‘Tope Oyekan, Director, Information, Education and Sports, Ijebu-Ode Local Government has rejoiced with the winners of the local Government elections in Ijebu-Ode and Ikenne Local Govt areas of Ogun State.

Hon. Babatunde Emilola Gazal, Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ijebu Ode Local Government, was announced the winner, having polled 6,178 votes to defeat Oluwadurotimi Okenla of the People’s Democratic Party, who polled 1955 votes in the election held over the weekend.

The Ikenne Local Government Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Olusegun Ogunleye, who also emerged the winner, polled 8,238 votes to defeat Adeleke Albert Adesanya of the People’s Democratic Party, who polled 731 votes. Both results were announced in the early hours of Sunday, by the Chairman, Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Mr. Babatunde OSIBODU.

Oyekan, in his statement said, “I congratulate the Chairmen-elect of Ijebu-Ode and Ikenne Local Governments respectively, as I pray for God to make their tenure peaceful, successful and result-oriented.”

“As they receive their Certificates of Return from the electoral umpire, and subsequently being sworn-in by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo ABIODUN today, I congratulate them and wish them an impactful tenure,” said, Oyekan.
