Oyo Youths Appeal For Empowerment

Students of the First Baptist University in Oyo State have appealed to the Federal Government for creations of sustainable empowerment programmes across the federation. The call was made at the recent Global Leadership Submit held at University Baptist Church Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The summit, it was gathered, was meant to promote and equip the youths on intellectual skills. Speaking at the ceremony with the Issues Magazine, Afolabi Oluwaseyi, a student from Ladoke Akintola University noted that the submit has contributed meaningfully to the lives of many youths across the federation. In his words: “There is no way you attend this global leadership submit without having a point to take home, the speakers are filled with ideas, messages especially for youths, the major targets of the initiators is to maintain and provide solutions to youths unemployment situations in the country”.

“How we can run into the future, how can we re-strategise, how can we make sure our dreams are receiving response if government fails to give us maximum supports?”, he queried saying the logic about the global submit is for youths to have opportunities of creating a better Nigeria”.

In the same vein, Olawale Fatomi, a student at Lautech also noted that the submit has prompted youths to discover and utilize the inherent talents that God has given them. Said he: “Youth empowerment in Nigeria is not up to the expected standard. Our government is not focusing on the internal challenges of our youths by providing formidable programmes for youths. It is only when that is done that we can have a sustainable leadership system in Nigeria”.

“Leadership gives us opportunity to know how best we can achieve the leadership pattern and this submit has exposed us to different leadership styles from different parts of the world”, Fatomi concluded.
