Cristiano Ronaldo, the striker of Real Madrid and the captain of Portugal, vows to return stronger after suffering a knee injury at Euro 2016 earlier in July.

Real Madrid’s hope of seeing the star return from injury in time for La Liga have been dealt a serious blow.

Ronaldo suffered a knee injury in the EURO 2016 final after a collision with Dimitri Payet and was confirmed that the winger will miss the European Super Cup final with Sevilla on August 9.

And Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer took to Instagram to insist he is on the comeback trail: “Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank all my fans. I wanted to tell them that all is well and that I will come back much stronger. Thank you, long live Portugal!”

Ronaldo is currently on a recovery program while holidaying in Ibiza during which he has attended a medical clinic for specialist oxygen treatment in efforts to accelerate the recovery period from a knee problem.

The 31-year-old is set to be sidelined in Real’s two opening La Liga fixtures and will also miss Portugal’s World Cup 2018 qualifier against Switzerland.
