Jack Wilshere is the shock name at the top of Pep Guardiola’s list of transfer targets.
The new Manchester City boss has already begun reconstructing his midfield with the £21million signing of 25-year-old Ilkay Gundogan.
But he also wants more Englishmen, with only three in his current squad — Joe Hart, Fabian Delph and Raheem Sterling.
And Wilshere, 24, is high on his list, despite the fact he has spent most of the last two seasons fighting injury.
Wilshere was also on the radar of Guardiola’s predecessor Manuel Pellegrini before he broke his leg in pre-season just under a year ago.
He has two years left on his contract with Arsenal and a new contract has been mooted.
Yet he is likely to be interested in joining the Pep revolution, especially as midfield competition has become stronger at the Emirates with the arrival of Granit Xhaka.
